Training Group Description
Bronze

Bronze I is our beginner level training group.  This group ranges from 5-10 years of age and is designed for novice swimmers.  Swimmers learn proper stroke technique for freestyle and backstroke including starts, turns and finishes.  Breaststroke and Butterfly skills will also be introduced at this level.  The main focus is proper stroke technique and developing basic competitive swim skills.

Bronze I also emphasizes good practice habits including preparation.  Swimmers are required to bring caps and goggles to every practice.  Proper lane etiquette is another important component to this training group; swimming patterns, send-offs and passing skills will be stressed.

Team building activities such as “Cheer Sets” and select "Fun Fridays" will be included within this program.

Swimmers in the Bronze I group are expected to participate in all ESSL TEAM MEETS and all home USS Meets.

Bronze I swimmers practice three (3) days a week for one (1) hour per day.  Practices are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6:00-7:00 PM.

We recommend attending at least two (2) practices per week.

BRONZE I REQUIREMENTS AND GOALS

Bronze II
is our second level developmental training program and is designed for new 12 and under swimmers.  A focus is placed on proper stroke technique and building endurance in all four strokes.   Swimmers will also be provided with an introduction to full stroke Butterfly and Breaststroke including starts, turns and finishes for each stroke.

At this level, swimmers will be taught proper dives into the pool and develop a racing dive from the blocks.  In addition, continued emphasis is placed on good practice habits, lane etiquette and team building.  Swimmers will learn how to read a pace clock and will be introduced to beginner sets and intervals; all of which are important components necessary to become a competitive swimmer.  Goal charts will also be introduced to track swimmers progression.

Bronze II swimmers are expected to participate in all ESSL TEAM MEETS and all home USS Meets.  With Coach's recommendation, swimmers may enter additional away USS Meets.

Bronze II practices five (5) days a week for one (1) hour each day.  Practices are held Monday-Friday, 6:00-7:00 PM.  We recommend attending at least three (3) practices per week.
